Review

So this is an album which sounds like Linkin' Park decided to go Prog... is this a good thing? Actually, it is better than Linkin' Park... but I have been know to fart better music than them so that is not much of an endorsement.

In the end the pretentiousness of this album kind of makes in interesting in a pretty uninteresting way, but at least they are trying something different and for that they deserve my compliments.

As an album it is really not that amazingly interesting, it supposedly has a concept to it, but you will only know it if you have been told and that's not really how concept albums should work. It is also pretty annoying particularly the vocalist's voice. So meh.

Trivia

From Wikipedia:

De-Loused became, both critically and commercially, the band's biggest hit, eventually selling in excess of 500,000 copies despite limited promotion, and was featured on several critics' "Best of the Year" lists. The album was ranked number 55 on the October 2006 issue of Guitar World magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitar albums of all time. "Drunkship of Lanterns" was named the 91st best guitar song of all-time by Rolling Stone.

"Linkin Park goes Prog." I love it! Saw these guys open for RHCP a few years ago and they were the most self-indulgent bunch of navel-gazers that I've ever seen. And I've seen Tool and King Crimson.
