Review

Everyone knows the second track on this album, well 5 years after the album came out at least, when the film of the same name came out, but I am sure that most of you are less familiar with the album that that track comes from.

Let me elucidate you, it is all pretty good despite no track being better than Pretty In Pink, but that's because there are few tracks in the world better than it... I love the 80's. There are several things that hook you in to this album, first and foremost is the voice of the vocalist, he is just fun to mimic while singing along to the music on the thing. Another thing that hooks you in is the smart use of sax, not used as well in rock since Roxy Music.

Then there is a whole blase attitude to sex and relationships on the lyrics which is quite refreshing, this guy likes sex and women but finds relationships to be a load of trouble. Fair enough. So there are such subtle titles as Into You Like A Train or I Wanna Sleep With You which kind of forcibly put their point across. Great Album.

Trivia

From Wikipedia:

The band splintered in the early 1990s, with the Butler brothers going on to found Love Spit Love. After spending most of the decade apart, Butler, Butler and Ashton re-formed The Psychedelic Furs in 2000, and released a live album Beautiful Chaos: Greatest Hits Live, which also featured a new studio recording, "Alive (For Once In My Lifetime)." A DVD version of the performance included live versions of "Alive" and three other previously unreleased songs: "Anodyne (Better Days)," "Cigarette" and "Wrong Train."
