Review

This was underwhelming, but it is indeed an important album, it's the birth of cock-rock, and no matter how much that is a shit genre it did have a big part in the soundtrack of the late 70's and 80's and beyond. The album is however pretty unsurprising.

Aerosmith bring us bad double entendres and one good track in Walk This Way, which was however greatly improved upon by Run-DMC in the 80's. So blah to Steve Tyler and his droogs. This album opened the door to a world of shit and for that it is hard to forgive it, and there is much to forgive, the lyrics are puerile, the music is uimaginative and the most you can say about the album it that it is fun.

When a lyric goes "Suck On My Big Ten Inch Record" there is not much space for interpretation and it ends up being the equivalent of bathrooms scrawls. For that reason it is a bit car crashy, another problem with the album is that you have heard so many things like it afterwards that it doesn't sound fresh.

Really enjoying reading your comments on the albums. I check the site every couple of days to see what's next.

Aerosmith completely lost me with this one, and I never came back. I enjoyed their first album, and their second (Get Your Wings) is still a favorite, but with the exception of a couple of tracks, I thought Toys in the Attic was complete trash. I've never understood why Toys is the one everyone remembers when Get Your Wings was so clearly superior.

Unfortunately, even the lamest garbage on Toys seems like a work of genius in comparison to the dumbed down rubbish Aerosmith has been cranking out for the last couple of decades. Blarg!!!

Anon: Unfortunately there will be more and possibly worse Aerosmith on the list.

Thanks for reading :)
