Review

Another album, another great one. In comparison with the early albums on the previous list, this one is definitely taking the cake up until now. Haven't heard a less than excellent album, if it keeps going this way I might have to stop giving grades as it will all be on the 9/10s category, making it a bit pointless.

Julie London gives us more standards in a different style from either Sinatra or Peggy Lee, while Sinatra was touching and depressed and Lee was fiery and exciting, Julie London is at the same time melancholy and sultry.

The arrangements here are quite minimalist, guitar and bass are enough to flesh out all the tracks around her beautiful voice. A completely perfect album for rainy afternoons, Julie is Her Name is another great discovery... I'm glad I'm doing a new list.
