Review

Some band learn something in the business of making music, their albums get increasingly better until they eventually reach a plateau and then decay. Then some bands skip that whole process and just make exponentially shittier albums. Such is the case with Coldplay.

After the pretty good Parachutes we get this crock of shit. And they would go on to make that Living la Vida Loca album which is just a poor joke. This almost certainly derives from a case of terminal cockiness. Chris Martin gets the Hollywood star and the good reviews and suddenly his albums are marred by a self assurance which makes it all pretentious and maudlin.

This is definitely a band which did not survive its fame. Sad but all too often.

Track Highlights

None really. It's all shit.

Somebody defended Miles Davis, somebody even defended 80's hair metal, nobody's defending Coldplay.

It's a pile of crap WITH THE EXCEPTION OF "Clocks" and "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face". They're both lovely songs, but unfortunately they're also just about the only good things Coldplay has done post-Parachutes.

Chris Martin I am there for you (you annoying little twerp).
